Orleans Country Club
Junior Outing and Barbecue
July 19, 2008
Thirty-three youngsters with their families turned out for Orleans
Country Club's fourth annual junior outing on Saturday, July 19. Parents,
grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends were there to
follow and guide the kids around the course. The youth ranged in ages from 3 to
14 and were divided into foursomes within their age division. Each participant
received a certificate, bag tag, tees and souvenir golf balls. OCC member
volunteers escorted the foursomes onto the course to play a scramble format on
four holes adjusted for length. Along with a little golf instruction and a
little golf etiquette, it was clearly obvious the juniors were having a ball.
The event was followed with a great summer cookout with chefs Bob Silvester-PGA
Pro and Randy Smith-Youth Committee Chair barbecuing up the hot dogs and
hamburgers for the famished kids. The Tee Off Restaurant dished out french
fries and drinks to complete the meal. Three more free junior clinics are
scheduled this summer on Saturdays July 26, August 2, and August 9 from 11 to
12:00.
This event was generously sponsored by EM Brown, Rich Doirian, Randy Smith and
Norm Anderson.
